A beautiful gite near the historic villages of Najac and Cordes in Southern France.
We have completely renovated this traditional stone house to offer you an exceptional level of comfort. This is a place where you can truly relax and feel at home. The house is set in a beautiful, peaceful garden with a small woodland and several terraces and seating areas, which all offer wonderful views over the countryside to the Viaur gorges. We are oa few minutes from Najac, classed as « one of the most beautiful villages in France » between the spectacular Aveyron and Viaur river gorges and a short drive from Cordes-sur-Ciel, elected « France’s favourite village » in 2014. And you will find many magical and secluded places for picnics, swimming and fishing by the Viaur and Aveyron rivers.
The house has three en-suite bedrooms, a modern well-equipped kitchen and a large living room. The bedrooms are colourful and inviting, with comfortable beds, new bedlinen and paintings by local artists. All the bed linen are towels are provided, as is the free Wi-Fi. You can eat outdoors in summer in the courtyard immediately in front of the house, while the large garden has several other terraces where you can enjoy an evening aperitif while gazing across the countryside to the Viaur gorges.
The kitchen mixes tradition and modernity: you will find exposed stone walls and oak beams, but also a washing machine, an electric oven, a microwave oven, and all the modern equipment you need to produce delicious meals from the local produce.
The spacious living room has several sofas, a large farmhouse table seating up to 8 people, and a television and DVD player. The wood-burning stove brings the warmth and magic of fire in winter and to the cooler evenings in spring and autumn.
The house is situated at the edge of a small friendly village with shops, cafes, an excllent bakery and butcher and a weekly market offering the best of local produce in summer. The house sleeps 6, with an additional bed for a baby, and it is available between February and November.
We are ideally located for exploring the Aveyron, Tarn and Lot, which are among the most beautiful and historic regions of southern France. Other outstanding sites within easy reach include the famous medieval villages of Saint-Cirque Lapopie, Conques, Figeac, the town of Albi, and the magnificent medieval shrine of the Black Virgin at Rocamadour, in the Dordogne.
You can also see some of the world’s oldest cave paintings at the Grotte de Pech Merle. This is the oldest Ice Age cave still open to the public, where you can see the original works deep inside the caves, and the 25, 000 year-old paintings of horses, mammoths and bison on its walls are truly extraordinary.
